Congratulations 2012 SCGA Saturday Team Play Champions  … Mission Accomplished

Only fitting that on a scorching hot day in the desert, a heated up Fullerton team went up against “perennial powerhouse” Red Hill Country Club and prevailed 30-18 to capture their first championship in club history.  All past finals & playoff FMGC teams were well represented in this championship with teammates that have spanned almost three decades of team play competition. This truly is a sweet victory for all the veterans and the new additions to this team as well as to this golf club as a whole!

FMGC Earns a Return Trip to Finals

April 19th, 2012 by freerobzee 2 comments »

FMGC has made it all the way back to the finals this year, doing it on their first try after not qualifying for the playoffs since their last run to the finals in 2009. Victories over tough competition from Balboa Park G.C. and a great home performance against Bear Creek G.C. has put Fullerton in a position to fight for their first championship victory in club history.  This year’s team has grown stronger as the season progressed, evident by the true camaraderie generated by this group of guys and this club as a whole.  So let’s support these guys and help them get over the top this year!  The final competition is this Saturday 4/21 at the Classic Club in Palm Desert, 1st tee time at 1pm.

FMGC Reaches Quarterfinal in SCGA Saturday Team Play

March 28th, 2012 by freerobzee No comments »

The 1st round of the Saturday SCGA Team Play Playoffs got off to an auspicious beginning with a light drizzle that hampered play just a bit. But inspired by Noah and the building of his Ark, our boys prevailed besting Dad Miller 29 -19.  Round Two found us playing a tough opponent from San Diego County, Encinitas Ranch G.C. The area known for some of the most exclusive country clubs around was sure to produce some good competition and did not disappoint. Their greens were harder to figure out than a Rubik’s Cube with one hand, but solid play from the whole team, home & away made the difference as FMGC came out ahead 28-20.  The next test this weekend comes against a notoriously tough Balboa Park G.C. from San Diego.  So come out to support your team as the drama unfolds ….

March Meeting, Just Putting Around

March 10th, 2012 by mitch No comments »

This months meeting had a fun putting contest before the meeting. Terry White won the event, Also we decided as a group to go to Primm Valley again for the Al Houk Classic.

There was also a vote to change the local rule regarding the creek area between the 10th hole bridge and the 14th hole creek. The club decided to make that whole area a lateral water hazard,.

Team play will be playing Dad Miller G.C, this weekend the 17th. Half the team will play at home, and the other half away. Feel welcomed to visit either location and root the team on

Perry and Schwartzel win at FMGC PGA Event

Ron Perry and his PGA partner Charl Schwartzel won the tournament on Saturday the 10th.  John Williams and Jason Dufner came in a close second. Also Steve Stuart and Zach Johnson won the net flight. Jerry Wilson and Keegan Bradley battled, but finished 2 shots behind at the end.

This months tournament almost doubled our entries from our last. We are hoping we can double it again for the Chuck Fein Yellow ball tournament in April and have enough entries to be considered more then just a bachelor party event. Click here for other results and skins.

Moreno Valley Blows

February 24th, 2012 by mitch No comments »

Last Wednesday, FMGC played Moreno Valley Golf Course. The day was a rough one for the 6 brave soles that participated. Between the difficulty of the course, and the elements of the weather, the scores showed how tough it played. Scott Peterson won low gross on a card off over Mitch Swanson, and Steve Stuart won low net on a card off over Mitch Swanson. Needless to say, Mitch had a tough day. Fullerton Goes Off The Reservation …

February 15th, 2012 by freerobzee No comments »

FMGC took to the road last Saturday facing their last opponent in the division, Indian Hills. Looking to gain an edge in the standings, the team was geared up to try to capture a road win and did so in convincing fashion. Lead by some fine play from Cris Ramos (barring a four putt), the first four teams out collected a whopping 23 out of 24 available points, leading to a very lopsided 33 to 15 final score.  This road victory leaves FMCG is a very good position to clinch their first Division title since the 2009 title run that lead to eventual runner-up finish for the SCGA Saturday Team Play title. A win at home this Saturday would give our guys a ticket to the playoffs this year, so come on out and support your team !!!
